In verse 37
What do you think? Did miracles in your life make you believe or did they lead you to the character of Christ?
There is a difference in believing the miracles or believing in the one who does the miracles!
verse 38
You can’t just be told but God has to reveal to you. There were people who believed, God must have revealed himself to them.
verses 39-40
Not only God had to reveal to some, He had to blind others. It is a hard saying, so how do we see and understand this? It reminds me of pharaoh and Egypt. God is all knowing and some people have rolls of unbelief. God gives all a chance to believe on Him but e knows those who won’t come to Him.
Verse 42
I like how John switches it up and says nevertheless! Many believed, They can’t help it. Belief and action are different things. If you know a parachute works but don’t jump you aren’t using it.
Verse 43
They loved praise of man more than God in their midst.
James 4:4 says “Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God”
Loving the world makes you an enemy with God. With God choices of very binary. One or the other. The more you are in the world the less you are in God and vice versa.
Verse 44-45
As a son sent to be an ambassador for the father Jesus is saying God deserves the Glory, He does what the Father sent Him to do.
Verse 46
Jesus says many times He is the light of the world. Light and darkness don’t mix. No grey area. Pick a side.
Verse 47
The Judgement is in the future. God sent Jesus to give the gift. If man rejects it he condemns himself.
Verse 48
God, Jesus, Judgement given. Many rolls of God but all the same God!
Verse 49
Are the same as verses 44-45 where Christ is sent by the Father for the Father’s glory.
Verse 50
Gods word’s are coming directly to man through Jesus. God spoke through the prophets in the past. But Jesus as God thought up the Words Himself! Paradoxes of God!
