The Bible is not just a book.
It is not fiction, not fantasy, it is not a novel.
It is History, it is a record of the truth no matter how impossible those events may seem. The supernatural is real, when Paul writes in Hebrews 11:3 “the Word of God… made the things that were seen by the things that do not appear” he is showing that what’s more real than what we can see or feel is the unseen that we are all made by. Not just the things too small to see but the things of the spirit that is outside of the natural.
The Spirit is more real than the flesh and blood. The body will perish but the Spirit lasts forever. God as the Spirit created all things out of nothing (natural), out of Himself(supernatural).
Even outside of the Bible supernatural things happen in the world but not many believe. The born again experienced God in their lives, that is always supernatural. Some call it “coincidence” but when God does those things in your life it is planned.
God’s Word does not come back void. Isiah 55:11. Every promise God has made will come true. Every promise is a prophecy, it will come to pass and not fade before fulfilling its purpose.
The first prophecy of the Messiah is in Genesis when Adam and Eve sinned. God said there will come someone who will crush satans head, and satan will bruise His heel.
Christ fulfilled that and many other prophecies when He came.
God made many covenants in the Bible. God doesn’t just say something for no reason. Take for example the laws He made with Moses and the Israelites. Exodus 19:5-6 says
“now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people, for all the earth is mine,
“and ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel”.
The covenant is if they obey God they will be a treasure and a kingdom to God.
Both parties have a part in this. So what happened to that covenant?
Jeremiah 31:31-33
“Behold the days will come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah
“Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the Lord
“But this shall by the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; after those days” saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall by my people.”
God says a day is coming. A new covenant. Not like the one with Moses. The Israelites broke that one.
That brings up some questions, First the covenant was broken but did it go away?
God’s word never fades. The covenant started and with the perfect “Man” Jesus it ended (God help up His end, now “Man” held up His).
At that point in Jeremiah’s time did the Israelites still have to follow the law of Moses? Well the law never brought salvation, it was always faith that pleased God. The law wasn’t bad, so you can follow it but look what it lead to. Even at the time God said in Isaiah 1:11 and on “What is the point of the sacrifices, all the bulls and lambs I don’t delight in them, incense is an abomination. All the feasts”
“Put away the evil doings”
The people thought the sacrifices saved them, it became sinful itself. Look how it was in Jesus’ time as well. It kept getting worse.
A big turning point in the Bible showing if God was pleased or not with the Israelites not doing right is Ezekiel 10,
verse 4 shows God in the temple getting ready to leave. Then in verse 18 God left. His glory was there up to this time. God gave His people every chance, but God who is longsuffering has a point He leaves the unrepentant.
Just like He gave us Christ’s sacrifice so we can have salvation and communion forever with God, If we don’t accept it we will be forever separated from God. That is hell itself.
God keeps His word. In Daniel 9:25 about the Messiah to come. 70 weeks of years is 490 years. It is hard to calculate all the times and dates but God is saying that in around 483 years the Messiah will be there. If he didn’t come God would be a liar.
He proved His Word many times over especially in the book of Daniel. He confirmed 70 years Israel will be in Babylon then go back to their land. In your life God will do and show you things to build your trust in Him. The seasons will grow longer and His promises taking longer but God is preparing big things to those who are faithful. Remember the things He has done in your life, He will get you through this and more.
God kept His Word, the Messiah came. The covenant complete. A new one established, all we need to do is accept by faith the promises of God. Starting with believing the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus who died for our sins, raised so we can also live.
There are still so many promises in the Bible waiting to be fulfilled, I know I am excited!
Are you?
God bless you
