Salutations to all and may God bless you and your families during these Holiday times. Merry Christmas to all.
The questions dont’t stop. Whenever we are in difficult situations, so many questions seem to pervade our minds. And we tirelessly search for the answers which seem never to come or if and when they do, they are not what we want to hear. So what to do? What to do? I believe the more that we daily accept the will of God for our lives (Yes the most difficult of situations). We are putting our lives in a position not only to get answers from God, but to accept those “hard” answers. So here is a short story of God answering me.
As I continue to suffer for the sake of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, there is always the “why”? Why is this happening? Why does this not end? And the list goes on.
Recently I began reading the Book of Deuteronomy and I was reminded of Moses. Also I am reading a book written by Elisabeth Elliot and in a few chapters she mentions Moses. She mentions about Moses and that he could not go into the “Promised Land” got me thinking. I always wondered why God didn’t let the “meekest man in the whole earth” go into the Promised Land”. Why him? Why Moses?Shouldn’t he have been the first ro go in? Heck, no other person during that time s served God like Moses did. ” It just does seem fair” is a thought of mine.
Moses has been called the most plagued of men, What he had to do was a struggle from beginning to end. Imagine dealing with all these people who promised obedience and then would disobey. They started things and did not finish. They pouted and complained. When God said that He was going to destroy the people, it was Moses who took their part and stood his ground. But Moses failed the test when he when he disobeyed by striking the rock when he was told only to speak to it. And we know because of this he was banned from entering the Promised Land.
I like what Elisabeth Elliot says about Moses in this situation. It spoke to my life very personally. She says, “To me, one of the most remarkable proofs of his earnestness in carrying out the charge in his continued obedience, day by day, after he had been told he would never be allowed into Canaan. It was like Job’s “Though he slay me, yet he will trust in Him” (Job13:15) Moses was saying “Though He punish me, yet what God is telling me. : it isn’t about you Jonathan David, son of Mark. This continual suffering and abuse is to show those, the people watching, that no matter what, you will obey Me and do My will. No matter what the cost. As it is said in Hebrews 5:8 about my precious Son: “Though He were a Son. yet learned, He obeyed by the things which H suffered.” God has chosen me and so many more suffering servants to show the worlds what true obedience is. Obey day by day, even and especially when you don’t get what you want. The true and genuine obedience will be shown to the world. Amen
