“After 2 Years in This Prison: A Bold Letter Calling Christians to Stand for Truth, Justice, and Faith”

Bishop Jonathan Grenon The Pilgram Prisoner’s Journal

(It has been 2 years since I have been in this prison)

May God bless you all,

I have been meaning to write a Newsletter on this subject for quite sometime now.  But I have to admit, I haven’t wanted to “further” upset the people in positions who can help me and my family in this “unique” situation we find ourselves in.  So I have kept mostly silent on this topic.  Not saying anything negative or positive for that matter. ( Note: If this Newsletter does not apply to you as a Christian, then great.  You must be doing what is right.)

I have remained mostly neutral in waiting to see what the powers at hand would do concerning our situation.  I don’t believe that “they” don’t know of us. I have been told that “they” are not ignoring us.  This I don’t believe.
Now, what I am going to share with you is not directed only to our political leaders.  This is directed to all and everyone that calls themselves a “Christian”.  No matter who you are or what you do.  If you consider or call yourself a Christian, this is for you.  I say this because it seems to me that many so called “Christians” have come out of the woodwork recently.

I guess it is cool to be a “Christian” now.  But what about when it isn’t cool, will you still consider yourself a Christian?  or better yet, will you speak boldly of your faith?  Lets go even further, will you stand up to evil in its face and proclaim that you are a Christian?  No matter the consequences?
“Oh yes I will”  says many.  But let me put you all in check for a moment.  I bet(Well, its just a saying people, I don’t want people to get offended now)most of you have already failed and don’t even know it.  Seeing how great “Christian citizens” you all are. (We will get to that in a bit).
Lets see the Biblical meaning of Christian first. In Acts 11:26 it tells us that” the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch”. So the disciples were called Christians then.  And what is a disciple of Jesus Christ?  Yep, you got it.  A follower of Christ.  I suggest you read I Peter 4:12-19 and remind yourselves my fellow Christians, what a Christian is and what we are called to go through.  Keep that in mind, but please, go read the passage so you can understand what I am telling you all.
I am almost sure that if you have attended a church in your life, you have heard the pastors and leaders say” The Bible says to obey your government” Basically no questions asked.  Am I right?  I have heard this misinterpretation of Scripture and this excuse be used all the time for one’s own convenience.

So I am here to rock your boat, to shake your preconceived notions, to open up your blind eyes to reality and the truth of the Word of God. It usually takes someone who has lost a lot in life, or all, to say the necessary words that people must hear.  Or someone who is downright crazy.  Maybe I am both. But I am sure not going to kiss up to anyone to get my freedom.  Because the Truth has made me free.  And that freedom, no man taketh away. (I want you to keep in mind that we Christians must obey God over man, when man’s laws go against God’s. This is part of our calling, no matter how hard it is.  Jesus did, and we are what of His? Followers!!!)

Would I like for President Trump to exonerate my family and I? And to rectify the injustice that has been done?  Of course I do. And unless the wrongs that have been done(not only to my family and I, but to so many others also)are made right, the blessings of God will not come upon America as a whole. You cant just ignore the people of God who have stood for what is right, and just expect God to pour His blessings on this nation.  Take a look at what is going on in this Country, better yet what is going on in the world.  Would you call this God’s blessings?  If you do, you just might be an idiot.

In Psalm 29:11 it says-“The LORD will give strength unto His people; the LORD will bless his people with peace.”
Our leaders don’t seem to know, or need to be reminded of how one can receive the peace of God.  Isaiah chapter 59 gives us a perfect example of why America and the world will not have true peace.  Here are a few of the verses, I suggest everyone reads Isaiah chapter 59 entirely.
I want you to keep in mind my fellow “Christians”, that we are talking about God’s people here.
Isaiah 59:4 says-” None calleth for justice, nor any pleadeth for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies;they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.”
Verses 7-9 says-“Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood: their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are in their paths. The way of peace they know not; and there is no judgment in their goings: they have made them crooked paths: whosoever goeth therein shall not know peace.

Therefore is judgment far from us, neither doth justice overtake us: we wait for light, but behold obscurity; for brightness, but we walk in darkness.”
13-15 says-“In transgressing and lying against the LORD, and departing away from our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood. And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter. Yea, truth faileth; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey: and the LORD saw it, and it displeased him that there was no judgment.”

Focus on what is being shown to us in the Word of God. Where righteousness is not being done or upheld, what remains will be wickedness.  So the peace that the world gives, is not real and true peace.  It is a farce.  Jesus said in John 14:27-“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

To kind of sum up this short Bible study before I go on to show everyone on how so many so called “Christians”, or even true Christians failed to stand for what is right.   In Isaiah 57:20-21 we can see that there is no peace to the wicked, to those who do wrong, to those who don’t stand up for righteousness. Remember the Biblical definition of a Christian?  The world has misinterpreted and perverted the meaning of a Christian.  Our fruits will prove if we are a follower of Christ, AKA, a Christian.  Just because I am a believer in Jesus Christ does not make me a Christian.  I must follow Him.  And that takes standing for Truth and for righteousness, as Jesus did.

So this leads into what I want you to see and know.  I was reading the book of Jude today 04/11/26, and a few things stood out to me.  In Jude verses 15-19 speaks on the ungodly people. We as believers and better yet as Christians must recognize the ungodly and not only point them out, but never follow them. Actually we should stand up to them.  Read that passage I just mentioned.  You will see that people seem to “admire persons because of advantage”.

I have noticed since President Trump came to office. Now, being a “Christian” is the cool thing. Not that I watch the main stream media much, but I have noticed on some channels, commercials, etc.. People, who never before were open about their “faith”, are all for it now.  Where was this “revival”, this “movement” when the few who stood against evil were being persecuted and abused?  Where were the “Christians” when being a Christian wasn’t cool and widely accepted? Where were they when the “government” said that you cant worship in your churches or even leave your houses to be with others, family friends, etc..  Are we not told to fellowship with our brothers and sisters?

Where were the “Christians” when the “government”(As you see here I am adding quotation marks on the government. Why, you may ask? When anyone or any entity, etc.. commands you to violate or not do God’s laws, they are automatically illegitimate in the eyes of God. Yes, God might let them be for the moment, but it just could be a test for mankind.) wanted to force vaccines on your temple/body? And when the few who stood and have been persecuted for righteousness sake, where were you?  Where are you now?  Are you advocating for them?  Or are you enjoying ” the good and easier times”?  And you dare call yourself a Christian? And you say this is a Golden Age?
There will be no Golden Age,only a fake peace and utter destruction to come.  I am not saying this, the Word of God says it.
If anyone, politicians, judicial personnel, religious people, anyone for that matter.  Turns their face from doing justice and righteousness and thinks that God will bless them or that nation, you are more naive or stupid than I thought.  We as a nation, the United States of America, have and continue to fail God.  It seems to me that Jesus Christ is not LORD and KING of the USA, by choice of course.  We only want to say we are “Christian” when there is an advantage for us. Far be it if we have to suffer for the Truth and what is right.
“That aint for me” we murmur and complain. When it is good and easy, call me, I’ll be there.”  That is the attitude of the modern day Laodicean “Christian”, which the LORD Jesus Christ would like to spit out of His mouth.
I am not even dialing in on the “rulers of this age”(That is for another Newsletter, soon to come).

I am speaking of Christians here.  So what are you?  A true Christian, a follower of Jesus Christ? Or are you a Jonny come lately, a fake Laodicean “Christian”?  The choice is yours. In Luke 14:26-33, Jesus is saying: If you are not willing to lose your life for Him, you cannot be His disciple/follower.  Read it and think about what is being said.
But do not fear my fellow brothers and sisters.  Our LORD Jesus Christ, the Way, the Truth and the Life says in John 16:33-“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”

I love how Jesus never beat around the bush, He said it how it is and how it will be in our lives!!!

Lets say that you have failed the LORD recently or in the past, you still can stand for Him now.  We all have failed to stand for the LORD at times in our lives.  But He is merciful, He is good, He is LOVE!!!  When we don’t stand for righteousness and the truth’s sake, many of our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ suffer alone. We are either in this together or we aren’t at all.  The choice is yours and you will be held accountable for turning your face from advocating or helping one of God’s own.

While speaking to fellow believers here in prison, a thought has come to my mind and I share it with them. I say-“Brothers, what if our fellow brothers and sisters could do some of our time for us.  Basically split up the time between each other.  How much time in prison do you think each of us would do?  To be honest, I haven’t done the math, but seeing their are many millions of Christians in the world and probably much less Christians in prison than on the outside.  I could say that we wouldn’t be doing more than a few days each.  I know it is sounds like a good dream for us who are on the inside.  But I believe the idea can be applied in other ways.  Are you helping your fellow brother and sister with their burdens while they are locked up?  Or are you ignoring them? Are you watching how the “government” ruins them and their families lives? Are you just tossing them a bone to feel better about yourself?  I believe there must be a better way to help those who have failed and to help those who have stood for what is right.
So, now do you want to be a Christian?

I hope that this Epistle makes you think about your walk with Christ.
May God guide us into all truth.
