Why is America in the Spiritual STATE it is in today?
Part VI
This is part six of the topic “Why is America in such a DIS-EASED STATE spiritually today”? I have been writing about the FACT that America was founded upon Biblical Truths from the Word of God. America is in a very “dangerous” state spiritually today. Many, if not the majority today, don’t realize today just how “dangerous” this is not only to America as a nation but to each man or woman that lives here. But it also is “dangerous” because America in the past was a great witness for the LORD to the whole world but NOW it is an example of wickedness as was Sodom and Gomorrah in the Scriptures! Being in this STATE also causes the LORD to judge and punish America which I believe all of us can see today. We are not only bankrupted Spiritually but also economically, militarily, judicially, politically, educationally, culturally, and morally!
I have used Israel, Germany, and England as nations “serving God” and went away from the LORD and what happened to them when they “turned away” from Him. Germany and England were testimonies to the world for the LORD and when they stopped they became “apostate or reprobate” ( “Apostate” = fallen away II Thess.2:3, “Reprobate” = casted away, Romans 1:28 or Titus 1:6) and turned into mission fields themselves needing the Word of God taught to them. What a turnaround! Those countries suffered tremendously as the LORD judged them. At one time it was said of England that “the sun never set on its kingdom”. This was the same time that the greatest missionary endeavor was being done from the 1600s to the 1800s. When that stopped the country more concerned with religion and prosperity had dropped “the ball” and God moved to the new found country of America and England faded as a world power and apostacy came to England as it was judged by God! The same happened to Germany in the 16th to 17th centuries.
My friends, this Spiritual declined accelerated in America in the 1950s and rapidly degenerated to where it is presently in 2023. It is becoming more apostate and reprobate each day with “good called evil and evil called good” (Isaiah 5:20). Israel is the first and biggest example of how a nation that turns from God becomes irrelevant worldwide. After king Solomon’s reign Israel rapidly declined Spiritually. Israel was destroyed and most of its people were cast out of their homeland and were made slaves! This culminated after the Messiah Jesus Christ was rejected in 30 AD and lasted until 1948 when God brought them back in their land after 2000 years. (Read Ezekiel chapters 36-38, Jeremiah 33: 14-26, Isaiah 66:22-24, Zachariah 8: 22-23 and chapters 12-14 for more detail.)
The LORD had set Israel up to be a light to the World “Ye are my witnesses saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am He: before Me there was no god found, neither shall there be after Me. I, Even I, Am the LORD, and beside Me there is NO SAVIOR,” (emphasis mine) Isaiah 43:10-11. God established Israel and gave them two choices: Obey Me and I will bless you and all nations that follow you; Disobey Me, and I will curse you and all the nations will see it and be effected by it! see: Deuteronomy 30 and Joshua 8
“Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations: ask thy father and he will shew thee; thy elders and they will tell thee. When the Most High divided to the nations their inheritance, when he separated the sons of Adam, he set the bounds of the people according to the number of the children of Israel. for the Lords portion is His people; Jacob is the lot of his inheritance. I found them in a desert land, and the waste howling wilderness; he lead him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye”, Deuteronomy 32:7-9. “So the lord alone did lead him, and there was NO STRANGE GOD WITH HIM” (emphasis mine) Deuteronomy 32:12. “He made him to ride on high places of the earth” Deuteronomy 32:13 The purpose was to bless Israel not curse them. The same goes for any nation that seeks Him!
The first century believers, “the early Church” experienced Gods blessings also and knew what and where the power of God was and the LORD protected them as a minority among a majority of pagan worshipers in the Roman empire, as any other nation in history including today. They were under the Pagan Roman empire and had NO POLITICAL BASE in the Roman government, NO MAJORITY IN THE CULTURE but armed with ONLY THE GOSPLE OF CHRIST, (His death, sacrifice and resurrection message) and that message changed the Spiritual climate which changed Moral climate of the entire Roman empire and “turned the world upside down”! Real Christianity, the sons of God, (I John 3:1-2) not some religious movement for the most part won the hearts and minds of the people from the rich to the poor, those that govern to those in the coliseums watching REAL BELIEVERS being sacrificed by cruel rulers. BUT their spilt blood germinated the spiritual ground and brought forth eternal fruit that lead to the Word of God flourishing to the point that those watching them die for Christ with great peace wanted what they had so much so that they were soon to be next in the coliseum sacrificed! You see my friends, these people with “freedoms” that Rome gave them to pursue “pleasures” of the flesh didn’t bring PEACE in the spirit which ONLY GOD CAN GIVE! We see this today in America. America has become a “hedonistic” (pleasure seekers), society with many “things” but not THE THING that matters: PEACE FROM THE PRINCE OF PEACE, Isaiah 9:6.
The early believers were “radicals” in the best sense of the word. They were radically committed to worshipping the True God, the Lord Jesus Christ “radically”, and serving others by sharing His Gospel and “radically” committed to “living out” the implications of their redemption! They had NO freedom of religion, NO media presence and without the ability to protest the wrongs against them YET they succeeded.
The way to “change things” here in the U.S is found in 2nd Chronicles 7:14, where it is written, “If MY PEOPLE, which are called by MY NAME, shall HUMBLE themselves, and PRAY, and SEE MY FACE, and TURN FROM THEIR WICKED WAYS: THEN will I HEAR (God hearing) from Heaven, and will FORGIVE THEIR SIN, and WILL HEAL THEIR LAND” (Emphasis mine). My friends, the only hope for America is if Gods people humble themselves, praying and seeking God and turning from their sins THEN GOD will hear and heal our land! This WILL NOT COME by Political reform, Economic reform, military reform, judicial reform, educational reform, cultural reform or even moral reform but ONLY BY SPIRITUAL REFORM!
