I was speaking to a friend of mine the other day, he was in the FDC Miami detention center as well but we were on different floors. After being in this place for a year I have seen so many people complain about it! It is true jail is never good anywhere and often the officers can make it much worse. That being said we would talk about how it was in the detention center, being locked in a small room all the time.
Even when we were supposed to come out we were told to go back in the room, sometimes all weekends, and that is besides in the beginning of covid, days in the room with 15 minutes to come out to shower every 3rd day or so. That being said we see more things by perspective, anyone coming from a normal life to this prison would hate it but I see so much that is better. In the detention center it is just a building and you never go outside. you never stand in the sun or enjoy the sky. here we have much more open space! No matter what jail is bad and hard but so is many things in life. we go through suffering and it helps us to understand others, to be there for others.
Often through pain and suffering God makes us stronger and then we can even laugh about those things. God can build us up, make us less reliant on the world and more reliant on Him! If you are going through suffering don’t think God has abandoned you, seek Him through these hard times and you will find Him like never before.
I have a song that I listen to. It is called Blessings by Laura Story. We pray for how we want God to bless us but what if “the trials of this life, are His mercies in disguise?”
God bless you
